Someone will roll this out with a bot (maybe I'll fire mine up now). I could be way out in left field -- happens all the time. :)

Whether your opp was on your 2- and 4-points or 3- and 5-points does matter as far as winning chances and gammon wins for you. I'd have to see that position to decide.

It sounds like your opp could have played either 8/3 or 9/4, keeping his 6-point and leaving the blot on the acepoint. Keeping the 6-point looks WAY better to me and I agree it's tougher to double after that play.

I wouldn't put too much stock in opponent's comments, particularly after you beat them! Even experts have blurred vision after losing. Except bots -- that's one of the reason's they are considered the ultimate authority in most situations. If you don't have one (GNU-bg is free; if you want to shell out $380 for Snowie -- the two are about equal in strength but have different features -- you can go that direction, of course. Snowie version 5 is "promised" to be released on Halloween so maybe it's better to wait -- I don't know if they'll give free upgrades to those who buy today but I doubt it.)
