Mike already did a good job responding to your post, but I'll include my own answers accompanied with a diagram in case it helps imprint the concepts:
41S-21S-51S [23-18, 9-8] 9-8 is furthest from the six point
41S-21S-51
No, actually B = 23/18 9/8, S (or Z) = 24/23 13/8, snd s (or z) = 23/22 13/8. Division of labor for B, S, Z.
41S-21S-51h [9-8, 6-1*] H would be 8-2*. After 6-1*, 9-8 is further from the six point than 8-7.Exactly right. H = 8/2*, h = 9/8 6/1*, H = 8/7 6/1*. For the H family, priority is to hit on highest point. Next, hit and the down portion is farther from 6pt; that pushes the other hit-and-down play 8/7 6/1* into third place (italic capital).
41S-21S-51z [23-22, 13-8] I ranked 24-23 over 23-22 based on most points. I'm not sure that rule applies to S and Z.Yes, S (or Z) = 24/23 13/8, and s (or z) = 23/22 13/8. The more-points convention trumps the 6pt convention.
