Falafel is my hero

Regardless of the reason, my understanding is that Falafel had the only bye and he graciously gave up the buy to let Grandell play, and then he lost to Grandell. Falafel could have insisted that his bye stands, and he did not. I have personally witnessed other acts of good sportsmanship by Falafel, but I am sure if everyone contributed, we would also get similar reports about Mochy, Neil, and many others.

Backgammon is a competition that is generally played without an official or referee, so the players, themselves, are generally responsible to monitor themselves and their opponents, and this ethically requires us all to hold ourselves to a higher standard of good sportsmanship and fair play, and I am please to say the most of the Giants set a terrific example in this area. There are a few "bad-actors" out there, and we all pretty much know who they are, and as a result, when I play one of them I am simply more careful and I don't cut them any slack.

But when you Falafel and others demonstrate great sportsmanship, I think it is our duty to recognize them and thank them for being great role models.
