Games like this are fairly common among sighted players in Go, so I don't see much different in the world of Backgammon. That being said, this doesn't sound like something that would be particularly easy. Sometimes I go over backgammon games in my head, though naturally it's not easy to play them since you can't have an effective dice cup in your psyche. I wonder if that sort of play can prepare an otherwise sighted person for playing blindfolded.
