If you have GNUbg, you can experiment with the "set cubeefficiency" command.

It can only be used from the command line interface or the Command panel of the GUI, and it uses the same value for both players.

For instance, with an early middle game position, I get :

default value (0.68), cubeless evaluation : -0.122 cubeful : -0.162 at 0ply (2ply : -0.121 and -0.161)

after "set cubeefficiency contact 0.5", cubeless : -0.122 cubeful : -0.151 (2ply : -0.121 and -0.156)
