Therein lies the problem, as noted in my original objection to this rule. As written now, the "slight slant" only applies if a die is on a checker - a die on the playing surface must still be flat.

What I think you are now saying - i.e, anywhere on the right side of the board where the prominent upward face of the die is readily discernible - may be reasonable. But the rule you wrote does not remotely say that.
