In a casino craps game there is a stickman who rules on cocked dice. Occasionally (but rarely) he declares that a roll be rethrown ... if a die is tilted weirdly between chips.

In backgammon we don't have a third party judge at each game, so we need a rule that has virtually zero ambiguity. The existing "dice must come to rest flat on the playing surface" rule is it.

Thumbs down on the proposed change. Learn to throw your dice away from checkers.
