Hustling

Phil makes a good point here.
Some additional perspective. I mentally train myself to try as much as possible to ignore what the value of the cube translates to in dollars (in chouette / money play). Just focus on double / redouble / take / pass / beaver, it makes decisions easier. Of course, sometimes thats simply not possible, and the relative number does have an impact on me. Interestingly I recently saw a 256 cube get dropped, because it was a drop. Of course, I didnt believe the earlier 64 > 128 was a take, and the redoubles leading up to the stupidly high cube were questionable at best. Perhaps that was a form of hustling? Chasing the cube upwards to try and scare an opponent? I have the utmost respect for both the players in that particular game, and wouldnt ever accuse them of that.
The flip side of not playing someone because you are a much stronger player, whats that about? Arent you engaging in a form of hustling there too? Essentially enticing the player to play for stakes high enough to make it worth your while? That may be too loose for this argument, but its hard to say.
Also, in regards to tournament vs money play (different thread, same theme). If you enter a tournament, then discover that you are stronger than all the other players, morally, should you withdraw? No. Ridiculous.
