PR is a highly ad hoc construct anyway if you look closely at how the sausage is made, so "theoretical PR" seems like a misnomer to me. I'd agree with David Rockwell that there's no reason to tinker with PR ("the nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from"), but it's not because there's anything magic about the current definition.
