Good advice from Igor and Stick, especially about playing out cube decisions many times until you understand what is going on with the position.

I recommend something similar for checker plays. If the bot recommends a play you don't understand, plug in every possible dice roll for that position and note how your plays differ from those of the bot. This can be very time consuming, but you will see themes and patterns start to emerge which will help you identify what is important about the position and what is not. Learning to quickly hone in on the key features of a position is what it's all about.
