XGR++ versus n-ply for bearoffs

Hi Rick. I am thinking of purchasing the Hugh Sconyers bearoff database but IU am wondering if they will work on my computer which is a windows 7. I do have a disc player in the computer, but am not sure if it takes ROM.How would I know and what other specs are needed for the discs? Thank you.
