Playing four checkers down (13/9(4)) looks reasonable here as well. Yet 13/5(2) makes the important 5pt, and seems to be a contender, too. 13/9(2) 6/2(2), however, overextends the position too much in my opinion. Therefore, I would choose one of the former moves: 13/9(4) or 13/5(2). Provided that either of these two moves is correct, how large is the margin between the best and second best play? I am not sure. 13/9(4) makes it easier to clear the midpoint soon, but it delays in making the home quickly. 13/5(2) in comparison, strives for the golden point immediateley, but clearing the midpoint in a safe manner will probably be more difficult. Both objectives are important, so I'm in an approach-avoidance conflict here. I slightly prefer 13/9(4) to 13/5(2), but I guess they might be equally good, whilst I consider 13/9(2) 6/2(2) to be a blunder.
