After making a point on the opening roll, it is often correct to bring down a builder on the following turn. There are couple of reasons, however, why S = 24/23 13/11 might not be best here. First, because White has split his back checkers, a blot on the 11pt is vulnerable to 9s (4 shots) in addition to the usual 10s (2 shots). Second, splitting to the 23pt does not bring a checker to daylight.
I suspect that U = 24/21 or V = 24/23 24/22 is the way to go. V has the advantage of possibly freezing White’s 8pt, but U starts the more desirable anchor. They seem close.
