Whats your game plan here supporting your choice?

I realize now that I did not state my reasons for the play (beyond the reference to the score). So here they are.

You are behind in the race and his man is getting ready to escape. If that happens you will need to get lucky and hit him in the outfield in order to win (if he does not hit you first, since you have that blot on 13, which will be moved to 12 in the non-hitting play). And if he wins the game he is one away and you are way behind.

Better to do the banana split and hope for the best. If you survive you might even gammon him, since he has that blot in his outfield that you can pick up. Those 4 points could come in handy.
