some thoughts on rollouts

I don't subscribe to the idea of deep rollouts because I consider it to be a waste of time. There are a couple of reasons why I consider it to be a waste of time:
- I consider XG++ plenty strong. It is almost always correct (close to rollout results) and when it is off, it usually isn't off by much.
- The next generation of bot may reverse many of the close rollout results so I don't get why it is important to know if one play beats another play by a couple of millipoints according to the bot which is in vogue.
- However, the most important reason is the fact that I will forget the position pretty quickly and I will forget the rollout results even quicker. I think one needs to be extremely motivated or some kind of savant to accurately remember the rolled out positions as well as the detailed rollout results. I am neither.
I have averaged 3,1 in my last 10 live matches (a mix of 17-, 11-, 7-, and a couple of 5-pointers). I know the opening rolls but I very frequently botch the replies. I just don't find the opening theory very interesting. I used to know the replies but then I lost motivation for about 3 years and during this period I forgot many of the replies. Recently I tried to re-learn how to play 33 as a reply to the different opening rolls because I often find myself in doubt about how to play this number. Unfortunately I have already forgotten how to play those 33s.
I never roll out any positions and 90% of my "practice" is playing DMPs against XG mobile when on the loo.
Clearly, there are more ways to learn this game than doing epic rollouts.
By the way, I enjoyed your analysis of the prime vs prime position!
