In Iife there are times when a decision or play has to be made just to stay in the game and so it is true in backgammon. The correct play here gives one the chance to do just that. The collateral effect that the play has on the Cube Gammons and whatever else is completely irrelevant in this case. These are desperate times. I find it odd that you choose to milk this position for such tenuous effects that the play may have on other features. The effect of the play is self apparent.
