A goalie that is so flappable that his confidence is ruined by being substituted for in an obvious strategic situation he never would have become an NHL goalie in the first place.

Where does the elevated risk of firing come from? Doesn't making the playoffs normally mean less a risk of being fired than not making the playoffs and doesn't embracing the strategy fully greatly increase the chance of making the playoffs?
