"24/22 has so much going for it, as splits tend to do. In particular, opps are stripped on their 8-point. If one of the stacked spares on the 6-point were back on the 8-point then splitting would be a much less attractive option."
I asked myself the same question, because shifting the spare back would increase the dangers of the split. It is not entirely clear cut, because it would also give Dillies 2 pips more timing in prime vs. prime, and not only makes attacking options stronger, it also gives more priming options (pointmakers that keep the 8). So maybe greater danger is compensated by greater need to split in this variant.
