I see the argument but I don't find it convincing. Note that even just coming home and leaving blots by bearing off is a viable strategy. I can potentially leave a blot on the 4pt with 4/off later so it just doesn't seem to me that breaking the board with a mediocre 2 is worth that much. A 2 or a 1 later plays better as 1/off or 2/off than as a board-breaking play now.
