I would do the same thing - deep gaps are quite dangerous, so shift the gap and then make sure that we are ready to eliminate the gap on the next turn (so 6/4 with the last 2). The one thing that gives me pause is the large number of immediate blotting rolls after 5/3(3) 6/4 compared to 6/2 6/4(2).
