Pitt. Memorial Cup Finals

A bit of background: Sunday morning after I got knocked out of the Last Chance (early) and after Matt R. defeated Perry in the Consolation Semis, Stick and Perry were going through several positions with a bunch of kibitzers (including me). (Not sure when Stick lost in the LC, but obviously he was out, too.) Both Perry and I signed up for the Memorial Cup ($200 single elimination, 16-bracket jackpot) and when the draw was posted we were paired in the first round. For those of you who haven't experienced three day events, they are pretty grueling and it's hard to sleep well with all the adrenaline flowing after late in the evening matches. (On Saturday night it's unusual to be finished before 11:00 PM. I had a LC match that didn't start until 12:30 AM. Winning that, my next match was at 9:30 AM.) Thus both Perry and I were running on fumes as we set up the board. It was nice of Stick (did I say that?) to record the match. It felt like we were in a jar of molasses -- every move seemed like a quiz problem. Anyway, that's sets the stage; now to the problems. Although Stick sent me the match, so far I've only looked at my own errors. Thus I'm answering as if I've never seen the positions. (I also don't necessarily remember what Perry actually played.)
The four point is screaming to be made. That looks like half the roll. Making the 11-point would be good but I don't like leaving an easy shot on the mid. Shuffling the back checkers is a double-edge sword since it would be nice to set up for anchoring high but Blue (with back checkers hemmed in) often has little to do but attack, so why make the attacked point a better point? 5(2) is a great point but lots of returns and opens the gate for Blue to escape -- something he'd very much like to do. Then there's the loose hit = 7/3*. That's a "push opp back from the edge" play besides starting a useful point. Downside are the return shots but when that happens Blue is still behind the broken prime and Blue's homeboard isn't terribly foreboding, yet.
7/3* for me.
