Is All Equity Equal?

this answer may be too obvious, but here goes anyway. Equity only really applies to money play, and it's usually normalized based on the cube value. So an obvious answer is that a .02 error with the cube centered will cost you much less than the same error with the cube at 8. Of course, if we're talking non-normalized equity then as far as I am aware all equity is equal. But nobody uses non-normalized equity.
For match play, match winning chances (MWC) is the obvious way to measure equity, but it has the shortcoming that large errors early in the match will barely affect MWC, while small errors at DMP will affect MWC a lot. So, if you're trying to improve your play MWC is a bad metric because you'll be focusing on the wrong plays. That's why equivalent money game (EMG) was invented - and attempt to normalize the error to the match score.
For EMG, the answer to your question is clearly no - a .2 double whopper early in the match won't affect your winning chances all that much (look at the match equity difference between 21a 20a vs 20a 21a - unless gammons are in play, no error can cost you more than that)
As for the difference between cube and checker play errors, you may be on to something. In particular, in your scenario pitting a .02 checker play error against a .02 cube error it really matters what order the errors are made since the equity is renormalized after the cube is turned.
