lynch law in Chicago?

Legal moves are legal moves, but my opponent's clock management is not MY responsibility until it is written to include that. In the sense of good sportsmanship, I hope that I'd warn him ONCE! Legal moves does not mean that I have to baby my opponent. the clock rule is a known commodity. I feel that it is in place not only to manage the duration of matches, but also to give an edge to the more familiar. Accepting that, I will attend the tourneys that I'm able. I do feel "cleaner" under legal moves, but breastfeeding an opponent leaves me cold.(especially if the opponent is an old hand).
I don't feel that a kibitzer has ANY rights. If he chose, then he should have pointed out what had occurred to said opponent, and then said opponent could have consulted the director at his behest. Allowing a ruling based on a kibitzer's report LEAVES ME COLD! The director should have done exactly NOTHING. Had the opponent won before clock out, would the kibitzer have reported the occurrence and allowed the match to be reset??? I think not. In no professional sports do spectators get to participate. Try running on to Wrigley Field and argueing balls and strikes with the umpire, then see what happens!
The issues involved here need to be sorted out formally. Not being "shot from the hip" on a tournament to tournament basis. 1) kibitzer's rights and responsibilities (there should be none). 2) my obligations on my opponent's clock management 3) tournament director's discretion (ie. when a rules committee must be consulted).
I sympathize with Michel. Not only has he been robbed, but his ethics questioned - when the situation remains in gray territory (at best). An argument could be made that Steve should have refused to accept the reset. This is ALL the fault of the ABT and rules committee. Rory did the best he could without formal rules regarding the aforementioned issues (even if I disagree with the ruling). The sooner that these (and other things) are codified the better.
