Dice on a Checker

Well stated. I disagree in part. Probably more so than dice on a checker, players will forget and not roll through the baffle box -- I'm guilty of it, I had to play a match with a baffle box in LA. Any number of times I rolled. My opponent simply corrected me and I re-rolled. That will happen occasionally with dice on a checker; however, some would have us believe that is the end of the world. It is not.
My point is that it is insignificant. I was against implementation of the rule -- not because I had a problem with the rule, but because I anticipated the adverse reaction. The Board of Directors approved the rule above my objections -- I can accept that. We all must accept that the development and acceptance of a universally accepted, single set of rules will require compromise from all. Many are not willing to compromise. Without that a universally accepted set of rules is impossible to achieve. We all must want to get to the same point and be willing to adapt to achieve the common goal. I've seen anything but that in this discussion.
Again, dice on a checker is wholly insignificant. Let us debate the significant differences that exist around the world -- legal moves being perhaps the foremost. 'Legal moves' is cultural as much as procedural. That is a hurdle that we might all attempt to address.
Again, my point -- and I'm perhaps always too candid -- is that we should overlook the insignificant and address the meaningful. Our mutual intent should be a common set of simple rules that promotes the growth of the game and accommodates the new and inexperienced players. The rest of us can adapt.
