Best way to avoid rolling straight onto the board, as opposed to through the baffle box, is to dispense with a cup. Unless you're used to playing in Turkish cafes you're not going to roll from the hand onto the board. Rules should provide this flexibility (with opponents permission). It might also help a player if the box was on one side rather than the other.

I'm also all for universal Rules - universal BEST Rules. It remains to be seen whether this one will prove to be. But, it does reduce cocked dice, and a newcomer to the game, following streaming, may well find repeated instances of re-shaking cause him to lose interest. In my heads up sessions I might suggest that we try the new rule (again).
