Theory on what to do following loose hit on 1 point early in game | Follow up: Magriel safe vs bold analysis?

As the RO indicates, the bold play (hitting loose) is clearly the preferred play. Yet, it looks like *none* of the Magriel safe vs bold criteria apply:

1. You don't have an advanced anchor.

2. Opponent does not have blots in his/her inner board.

3. Yo do not have the stronger board.

4. You don't have more checkers back.

So, since none of the criteria that argue for bold play apply, why is the bold play the right play?
