I prefer the one dice approach with the clock turned ON!

Seriously, this game should be clock mandatory at anything but the true novice level. If there aren't enough clocks around, then anyone who brings a clock should insist upon using it.

Oh and what about time controls? Certainly 12/2 is fine for Championships. but the lower division (call it Advanced or Intermediate) plays shorter matches presumably because they play more slowly, so lets clock that at 15/2.
