TRIGGER WARNING: Serious post, no poetry, no satire

These are my opinions on these matters:
Baffle Boxes: I think these should not be mandatory but should be player preference, since far too many players don't shake vigorously enough, and if you are of the type to be irritated by that, then just get yourself a baffle box and require your opponent to use it. Or in the opposite direction- if your opponent is a spaz like me and rolls too hard and the dice flail onto the floor too often, you can eliminate that as well with the baffle box. However, I'm not a big fan of the combination of large P40 dice and the small P40 scrambler. Precision die typically come in three sizes, and I don't like the largest of the three sizes in the small scrambler (or the smaller version of the baffle box that Phil sold before the scrambler became available). I like the P40 scrambler but prefer the small or medium sized dice in them. Besides, while I love my P40 board, the advertising on the face of the '1' die is something that I could have done without.
one set of dice: Strongly agree but like Stick and Neil I think it should be because the match should be clocked, but even if not I like the idea of a single set. But I agree with Albert that I'd prefer you not wear down the surface of my Taki board or my P40 board prematurely with your greasy hummus-encrusted fingers. Stick's idea of using a clock is good but if one is not available just tap the table in front of you. But again, best thing is to just "cowboy up" and play with a clock.
no cups: Disagree here...cups should be preferred. In fact the new USBGF rules define the baffle box as a device that is used by placing dice into a cup and then yada yada yada...one can reasonably infer that cups are intended to be used. Yet I see lots of matches streamed where cups aren't used. And yes, I know that in the smaller scramblers sometimes spazes like me will miss the opening when using the cup, but still, for so many rules where there are binary choices on things to do, the rule is usually geared towards the one that would make it less likely to be able to cheat. No, I will not attempt to prove that one can more easily cheat by putting dice through the baffle box by hand than with a cup, but it just feels right. With cup and baffle box combo you don't need to shake, just place them in the cup and drop 'em in.
no clock Hmm have to be careful here since I promised no satire....I agree with Neil and would take it a step further. Learn how to play at home and be prepared to use a clock in your very first match. Of course timings should be slower at the novice levels.
I'm done. Blast away, people.
