Your opinion is irrelevant Stick as you'll be retiring from tournament backgammon when I get the rules changed to ban headphones. Just please give the USBGF the opportunity to acquire your site before hitting the Delete key. ;-)
I don't have a problem with one player using the baffle box and the other one not using it, although I suppose that the ability for Player A to impose a baffle box on Player B without Player A himself using it doesn't seem right, so I'll grant that it doesn't address your main objection. It isn't a perfect world.
One reason I like the baffle box is that usually when I enter a tournament I win so often that I play many, many rounds and after so much vigorous shaking and rolling without a baffle box, my shoulder starts to hurt after a while.
If you ever make it to my age and get to the point where you win a match or two you may see what I mean. ;-)
