As the person who rolled this score in XG's opening book, I want to offer this insight. Both plays are for all intents equal. This translates to personal preference, though I would be happy to see my opponent make the minor split. I can't see what advantage it would offer.

However, as long as you don't play both up or bring down two builders it just doesn't matter. What does matter though is cube play. Does your opponent know when to double [40.16%]. Do you know when to take in a race [19.89?%], and when gammons are involved [36.65%]? The gammon price is .864 not 1.00, but what does that look like in a position? And do you know when to double as the leader [80.71%]? I admit that I don't have a complete grasp of this, but this is what will make or break the game at this score, not which split you make.
