"If you and I are playing with the TD's dice rolling app, what do you think are the possibilities of being cheated?" I don't think at all about being cheated with the app or real dice. Why we players should fear so much about being cheated, does it happens so often nowadays in tournaments ? Just because this private test about we don't know much, in 5000 rolls I am not surprised to see the numbers don't have a perfect distribution because of variance. In 10 years of tournaments I have just heard once about someone playing money game in the tournament room with manipulated dice.
"What if I were a cheater and I kept testing my dice until I found one that rolled more 5's, by a lot, than it should. And I knew that. Don't you think that would give me an advantage, even if I didn't conveniently switch the dice when I need a 5 or more higher numbers?"
By a lot looks very unlikely to me because are precision dice and even in that case is hard enough to take advantage in a match with the 5 let's say coming out 0,1% more than the other numbers. And what happens if you roll many 5 in the opening or from the bar when opponent has the 5 point? Come in Monte Carlo or Cyprus with such a die and I will play but no high stakes, just normal :-)
Backgammonand players are used to complain about bad luck, some think that servers know about who is winning or withdrawing, I really don't think we need new issues about eventually hacked devices. Rolling dice is a pleasure for many players, me included, if I have to play with electronic dice I would reduce my live attendance, better to play online with less expenses and less prizes, the file is ready instantly to be analized.
