PROBLEM 9
***********
I don't see any other option than 3/2*(2) 8/6 She dances 11/36. Aces make the 5pt, 3s and 5s hit another Looks too easy for an answer and I am afraid it would be wrong.
I also examined
b)8/5 3/2 looks very similar to the above although inferior because of the 2 blots, and no future option to make the 5pt
c) 8/5 8/7. This is quite interesting. It's a passive play and normally shouldn't be OK. I still checked it though.
7/36 Hit and make the 5 point (let's consider them wins)
15/36 Hit but deliver a gamonish position assuming we hit at the 5 point (It happens 14/36 times)
6/36 (14,34,21 don't hit and still deliver a gammonish position.
The total of gammonish positions where we hit (Let's assume them gammon wins) is < 11/36.Since the gammon value AtS is only about 0.5 aren't enough to beat the 7/36 Single win loses.
There's also the totally chicken option 3/2*(2) 8/5(2) but I don't see how he could possibly win with this.
PROBLEM 10
**********
My first inclination was for 24/16 because we run the risk of getting primed. There are 2 more moves I considered
b)6/1* for tempo and then 24/21 for mobilizing back checkers. Aces to enter and hit are duplicated, her blot at 10 is destined to be on fire.
c)6/1* 5/3 for a blitz aiming at quick closeup or priming by making the 4pt.
It's hard for me to chose between the 3. And as I already got very tired I will use the "Othello QF factor" that wants the 2nd best to be a blunder. b and c are unlikely to be blunders between each other. Therefore none could be the best move. This leaves only one move:
24/16
