I wasn't thinking about limiting the size of the increments, be it a minimum or a maximum (which I think is done in Poker).
My suggestion sounds like a term I recall one of you (Neil K?) used: "table stakes". The total risk of loss is limited by the amount you bring to the table. I guess we can call it, using BG's terminology, "board stakes".
I like the fluidity of letting the players decide the amount of the raises--conceivably from $1 to no limit--based on their assessment of their positions.
