I agree with your arguments and then some. The goal of the game is simply to "win"! That's all.

Achieving a low "PR" is an artificial goal, based on biased applications of arbitrary formulas, by pretentious people who had to settle for gambling playing backgammon because they see it as a compromise between chess and poker, both of which they don't have what it takes to be good at...
