It is not automatic - you might be too good although that is really unlikely. Also, if you wait you can bluff your opponent out of a take. However, it is much more likely that you lose your market and that instead of a good chance at winning 4 points, you win only 2.

In practical terms, unless you really know what you are doing, redouble in such situations at your first opportunity.
