Ah, yes, I see what you mean. This is reminding me of a thread while back where Stick was recounting being in a really weak chouette or something where skill levels were so lopsided that all sorts of "unnatural' cube strategies were profitable. I'm getting the feeling this is the sort of think Michael and April might be trying to avoid. But as someone suggested in that thread, the solution in that case is maybe just not to allow that person in your chouette, if his or her skills ae so far beyond anyone else. I've always thought its a bad idea excluding stronger players from a chouette -- it's usually the current stronger players who are keen to do that, so they can stay on top. But if you have a much stronger player who is being obnoxious, say doubling after the first roll against the weakest captain and then beavering most re-cubes where there's a lot of complex play left just to get the stakes higher, there's no reason to accommodate that.

There are rules, and there is a certain etiquette. While paying a small "non-consultation fee" by dropping the strongest team-member while taking the other two is an acceptable feature of chouette play, I think there's a sense that dropping a strong Captain while taking the two weaker team-mates (sacrificing the box in the process) in order to harvest extra equity through poorer checker plays is just "not done." If you're going to take some / drop some you always take the Captain, whoever it is. This isn't in our chouette rules, but it's just the normal thing we all do. I can see how you'd want rules to discourage this sort of thing if it was an issue in your circle of players.
