Not an important point for our purposes, but are baseball rules really uniform worldwide? The DH rule varies from league to league and country to country. I just did a little research and found out that in Japan, the baseball is slightly smaller than it is in the US, and games are tied if nobody wins after twelve innings; that's a difference far more significant than, say, the flat-checker rule, as it directly affects outcomes.
