Please bear with me and my poor grammar, this is just a comparison post.

Pool has been streamed for about 10 years now, it was pretty rough the first couple years(blurry balls like dice you can't read etc), we suffered the same problems BG streams have(interruptions in the streams) and all sorts of other irritating problems.

By 2010 it was not up broadcast quality but noticeably better. It was the quality we have in BG now which is pretty good, that's not a knock on everyone's hard work. There is a learning curve for the streamers and the BG streams are notably better every few months, same as pool was from 07-10. It's not easy!!!!!sounds easy tho.

Ok whats the point?

Here is the point, most pool streamers now are up to TV quality, some are not. One thing that is the same between the ok to great quality productions is the audience sizes are about the same. Unless its a huge match with huge $$$ bet and marketed for months in advance-those matchs do draw larger audiences. But if the same 2 players play in a tourney then the audience sizes are the same as most any 2 players.

The audience size is the same irrespective of the quality of the streams. Better stream quality never equals a larger audience UNLESS the bad stream quality is not watchable.

Its a huge misconception to think that if the streams or live shows are going to grow viewership. It just wont happen. The audience will enjoy hi-def productions, being able to read the dice, great commentary, all that makes the existing viewers happy and watching more enjoyable. That might lead one to believe the audience will grow because of that, but(improved quality) growth is very very small. I watched this exact thought process play out in pool, i had $$$ invested into streaming many years ago in pool. I worked with a now defunct streaming company. It was a labor of love. Still is for the other guys streaming in pool.

It will be a massive benefit for the existing audience with improvements in stream quality, but that's about where it ends. Pool has many many more participants than BG and getting 2000 live viewers worldwide in pool is a great day. Under 1000 viewers is normal at most world class level tourneys.

BG just isn't big enough to have a huge audience for streams,

I'm not discouraging anyone who puts their hard effort, time and money into any BG related media and its improvement and I certainly appreciate each and every YouTube video and stream. I cant spell either, but I do know that there is a limit to audience size no matter the quality of production.

This is just based on my experience over the past 10 years of streaming and again thank you to everyone for their hard work!
