Highly unlikely.

As I think Jeremy Bagai said: "the pendulum of backgammon development continues to swing but the arc is getting smaller."

I doubt whether it will get to zero any time soon. While draughts has died because it has been "solved" there is still plenty of scope for backgammon theory development, particularly around doubling. And that's before you start talking about plays/doubling decisions that take account of skill disparity.
