The scored-upon team gets the ball back after an assist as well. You can always argue that any 2-point basket is “only worth one point” using your logic, but, the way I see it, the fact that team B always gets the ball back after Team A scores is a red herring when analyzing the relative value of a rebound vs. an assist. What am I missing here?
