Chouette rotation: How to deal with a captain who has settled his game

This is the kind of question every chouette must decide for itself. In Boston we keep it simple because we prefer playing backgammon to wrangling over procedures. At the beginning of the game, a Captain sits down to play against the Box. The title of Captain is never transferred to another player during a game for any reason.
Case A: The box wins the game. He remains box. Case B: The box loses the game. The captain becomes box.
This covers every situation. I've yet to see a more elaborate policy that enhances the chouette experience. I've seen many that lead to various species of wrangling and arguments. If I'm in some other town I'm happy to play by their rules, and just go where they tell me.
