Well, nice to be thought of. I don't play all that many ABT's, maybe 4 per year (NY, San Antonio, and then usually 2 others) and I've only been on the ABT scene since around 2015, and I actually did win the ABT 'online' New York tournament, but that doesn't really feel like it counts (not even full 64 draw). So, I don't think it's that surprising that I wouldn't have won an ABT.

Having said that, aside from that online event and another online Master's Jackpot where I came in second, I've never even made the finals of an ABT main event or Masters Jackpot, and only once made it to a semifinal (San Antonio in an epic match I lost to Jonah Seewald).

It's pretty discouraging. I've improved a lot, but so has the entire field, it seems. If I didn't have BMAB results to take interest in I think I might have given up ABT tournaments sometime in the past few years -- I'm out nearly $19K in net entry fees over the past 3 years of tournament play (live and online). I don't expect to be equity-positive in tournament play, but my rate of return on entries is only 47% over the course of the last 149 events, which feels brutal. I feel like I'm "due" for a lucky streak, but I don't think the universe works that way.

But I do enjoy the tournament experience and of course all the good company!
