Vista

I'm on a new computer & it came preloaded with the pofs Vista.
I've never been a "jump on the bandwagon" disser of Microsoft. However, I think you could bet fairly heavily that until Vista gets a MAJOR rework or they come out with their periodic new OS, I won't be installing it, ever.
Fortunate for me, we (at the university) get free software, especially from MS. So I bought (media cost) an extra XP Pro install set of CD's for future expansion/emergencies.
MEANWHILE I'm dipping my toe into LINUX. I've been using RedHat/Fedora for about six years at work but am still a neophyte. I just installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 on my new home quad-core. (There's also the Apple option.... No comment.) Next for me is to install GNU-bg on it and do a little "test driving".
MS hasn't really changed their attitude the past ten years (remember Windows-ME??) but the competition has turned it up a notch or two. GM, Ford, and Chrysler have been surpassed by Toyota and (for the most part already) Honda. MS is next. When you get smug and complacent you're putting yourself in the toaster.
