Well, this is a lot different than any of the stated rules, of course, because you have very little time to think longer than your 15 seconds per move. Don't have a pipcount? Better do it quickly or maybe a fast estimate. Worse, possibly, is the time needed for an MET calculation -- you just don't have it.

Backgammon could go this direction, pretty much requiring one to memorize a lot more ME situations than is current.

Isn't just getting people to use clocks enough of a giant step right now??
