That's what I was thinking might have led to this (mis-?)interpretation. I've read a lot of books and don't ever remember seeing this one before.

And, BTW, a sample size of two is indeed too small. Without doing it, I suspect I can find all four setups {dark near, dark far} X {clockwise near, clockwise far} if I look through enough of my books.
