Thanks for the clarification. I thought the amount to be played for was negotiable once you were matched with an opp.

Regarding the anonymity of opps, this is also an issue in Blitzes. E.g. the director announces ("still two spots in blitz Q'fier #7) and you go up to the front to register. You see the list of six players, three of which are WC. You decide "I'll wait for the next bracket..." Here you don't know your exact opp but you do know that winning the bracket will be tough. Personally I don't practice this as I feel it's a touch sleezy. But I know a lot of people do, and it's within the rules, so I don't look down my nose at them. (If directors kept the signup sheet hidden it would help squelch this practice although that wouldn't be foolproof. But hiding things on an open table is difficult/impossible so it's not as simple of a solution as it sounds.)
