What settings?

Just wondering, in a tournament such as this where clocks aren't even part of the procedings (other than the director's right to use them for slow matches, etc.), may the players decide between them on the settings?

I suspect the answer is going to be 'no', which of course makes zero sense. How could a match with a clock with ANY setting take longer than a match with no clock?
