I can certainly speculate but that ought to be given the proper value.

1) There's a two pip difference in the race (before hitting).

2) Bringing checkers off the mid ('D'-plays) go after the 5-point, among other things. 24/20(2) thwarts that. Hitting on the 16-point leaves three builders for (more correctly, three points with builders in direct range of) the 5-point after 43D but only two of those after 54D.

Note these are to be added to your already (more) relevant reasoning on the number of return shots.
