Our match (me vs. Nora) was one round behind the rest of the field. I don't think Steve wanted to start Sunday AM with a match behind the others and I don't blame him. (BTW, I think this was an LC match.) FWIW, I had to wait 2-3 hours for my second round match that day which ended up putting me behind. I subsequently had a long match (at least two hours; probably more like 2.5) and another moderate length match (at least 1.5 hours). I'm sure Nora had been waiting quite a while (I think she even told me that) and was concerned (rightly so) that she wouldn't get to bed until the wee hours. I NEVER had a problem with Nora's request for a clock nor with Steve's decision that one should be used, EXCEPT that it was an analog clock.
But once again my traffic analogy holds -- once there has been a backlog it is almost guaranteed to perpetuate. This isn't pseudoscience. Besides traffic simulations it can be analytically shown to be a principle of fluid flow in physics and engineering.
