Stuffing down throats

Stuffing clocks down people's throats is definitely NOT the way to go, especially if those throats belong to TDs. The immediate reaction would seem to be that TDs can't and won't afford to provide enough clocks for a clock mandatory tournament. We really need to find ways to encourage more players to play with clocks and purchase their own to bring to tournaments. Only when that happens will "Clocks Mandatory" have a decent chance of becoming a reality.

I do agree with many on this forum that it makes sense to introduce clocks first at the Open/Championship level of play. I also think that Neil's idea of 2009 as a "transition year" is the best way to go, as it will introduce many players to clocks who have never played a clocked match, and hopefully convince them to purchase their own. I don't know of any Open level players that can't afford the price for a clock, given what they pay in entry fees.
